Founder's vision

“We must document and publicize the noble origins of insurance, its adventurous past and present progressive development. Thus, insurance will also be able to inspire confidence and sympathy through its history.”

Parallel to his work as an insurer, Francesco Mansutti cultivated a passion for insurance history and built up a documentary heritage over more than seventy years of research. Added to this are the two collections donated by Vito Platania and the Sacerdoti family.

The holdings illustrate and narrate the evolution of the insurance phenomenon from different perspectives: historical, economic, legislative, technical, mathematical, artistic, cultural, and psychological.

The Museum: a center of culture and education

The Museum is committed to promoting innovative activities and projects, with a focus on outreach and education. Our mission is to raise public awareness about the history, culture, and evolution of the insurance sector, creating opportunities for learning and reflection. Our activities, which range from temporary exhibitions to conferences and seminars, are designed to offer an engaging and educational experience that stimulates curiosity and interest in topics of great social and economic relevance.

The Museum is supported by a Scientific Committee and a Board of Directors, whose composition and responsibilities are outlined in the Statute; these bodies ensure the scientific quality and depth of the content and initiatives we present.

Collaboration with prestigious institutions and organizations is very important to us. In particular, we have scientific collaboration agreements with the University of Milan and the Catholic University, which allow us to integrate our resources with research activities, contributing to a deeper understanding of the historical, economic, and social dynamics that have shaped the insurance sector.

The Museum is actively involved in prominent associations such as Museimpresa, Museocity, and ICOM (International Council of Museums). These partnerships enable us to connect with other institutions, promote the culture of industrial heritage, and contribute to a network that shares our goal of enhancing historical memory and material culture.
